Island Girl

Isn’t this such a beautiful house? The husband is drawn to old houses like this and he gets excited when he sees one. I was told to take a picture and one picture I took. I actually get spooked with old uninhabited houses. Blame it on my upbringing, I guess. Or maybe I am just plain crazy. There are a number of houses like this in the same area and a few which are grander and bigger that the husband thinks this might be a plantation at one point. The location is perfect too, near a river and with its own private marina. I love the shade the old oak trees around the house provide. I hope whoever owns the property now will restore the place back to its grandeur. It would be beautiful I am sure.

It has been planned today that I will mow the yard if the stepson will not show up. I was ready for it and thought it might be a good time to sweat. Turned out I was saved since when we got home from the store, the stepson was already mowing the back yard. The neighbor mowed her front yard too but stopped since she said she could not take the heat and she was tired so the stepson had to finish what she started. I wonder why though since she has a teenage son living with her. We always end up mowing her yard for her since it would look awful if our part of the yard is mowed and hers isn’t. We live in a duplex. But anyway, he mowed our yard which saved me from being under the heat which is a good thing because the husband is starting to get annoyed with my whining about how hot it is all the time, lol. He even used the blower to clean the carport. The yard now looks nice.

We are grateful for the stepson’s help. A year ago he would not lift a finger to help with house work when he was living with us. I used to mow the yard when the husband was busy and the stepson would only help when I complain about getting tired and his father will tell him to help out. Living with his wife must have changed the way he sees things now because he sure is helping us a lot when it comes to yard work and doing things his father could not. I hope he will continue to be responsible and ready to lend a helping hand. His father is sure happy he can rely on his son for help.

My parents are trying their best to save money. They said they are not getting any younger and as a person ages his immune system gets low and that is when he starts to get sick. With a little savings in the bank they can always go to the doctor in case they are not feeling good. They even talked about getting life insurance and asked me if I could look up life insurance quotes for them. I promised them I will do it and let them know when I find a good deal. I hope I will find something within their means and that they will be happy with it. I love my parents and we try to help them however much we can.

We will bring our car to the car wash later today. The husband and I decided to let somebody else do the cleaning for us. I used to do the cleaning but I don’t feel like doing it right now. The service we want does not really cost much so it is not bad to let somebody do it. I took everything that was inside of the car out last night in preparation for today. I hope the place we choose will do a good job. I already told the husband that once the interior of the car is cleaned, we will only put important tools and what-nots back in. No more hauling around unnecessary items we don’t need.

It had been weeks since I started using it and I am still using the diet pills that I bought from the store. I am supposed to take two a day but sometimes I forget so I only take one and at times none. That is why there are still a few left from the pack that was good for a month. It actually helped me not eat too much and at the same time feel better about myself. I know I lost weight although not much but better than gaining more every day. The husband noticed it too. The shorts that were normally very tight are now comfortable and I am loving it. I would love to lose more weight but I am not in a hurry. I can wait.

Somebody is not feeling good when he woke up. Either his parents’ loud voices woke him up or he was not ready to get up. Whatever the cause is, he is not happy with it and he is being loud to express his feelings. I will try to stay out of the path of the storm, lol. I found out this is the best course of action whenever.

I went to the drugstore the other day to buy vitamins for the little man. He is very picky when it comes to food that I asked his pediatrician if it is fine to get him vitamins and she said yes. I noticed since I gave him the vitamins he has been eating a lot which is a good thing. He needs to gain weight because he is skinny. Unlike his mother, who without the help of appetite suppressants,would be very fat right now. It would be a shame to go out in public with him so skinny and me being fat. It will not look good. So he is on vitamins right now while I am trying to lose weight. As for the husband, he is sticking to his own diet which is portioned meals which by the way is in danger of not being followed since he said he feels hungry all the time now. Anyway, I hope the little man will continue to eat more and maybe gain a few pounds and grow a few inches as well.

We have not moved but I feel like I already miss the south. The place may have some things I don’t like but all of it is part of its charm. The husband said we can either stay here only on a different city or we will have to move close to relatives. We could not decide where to go. We talked about staying south and then if he feels up for a long trip, we will visit relatives. Or we will move in the Midwest and we will take a week or two every year to spend on either the Carolinas or Florida vacations which I think is pretty fair. Of course these are dependent on whether he is up to it healthwise or we have the money to spare. We still are undecided where to move. I can’t make up my mind either. I told him he has to make the decision and I will go along with it. I want him to be sure he choose the place he wants without pressure from me. I may complain but I know I will adjust. We should make a decision in the next few weeks.
