    30 Oct 2008 /  Fall, seasons

One of the highlights of our recent trip was being able to experience firsthand what Fall is like up in Indiana. I have experienced snow once since we lived there long enough for my first snow and then the husband whisked me off to live in the South and we have been here ever since.

The trees are lovely up there. And so full of colors that it is hard to believe the leaves are just going to fall down and rot. Here in the south you rarely see a tree with yellow or red leaves. But then it rarely ever get too cold down here which is one of the reasons we are here in the first place.

28 Oct 2008 /  CD, computer, saving pictures

I don’t tell people this often but I am not really good with the computer. I am not a techie person. It took me a long time of tutorial from the husband on how to turn the computer on and off, and how to navigate it. Now, I had computer subject and I did use the computer to communicate with him when I was still in the Philippines but it was easier since I only have to tell the person in-charge what I needed to do. I didn’t own a computer until I got married and I was already in my twenties then. If not for my college buddy making fun of me for not knowing teaching me to use yahoo messenger I don’t know if I will ever have the courage to even use the computer. Thanks to her I did get to know how to do it little by little. I am still struggling now. It took the desktop crashing and losing most of the pictures stored in it before I figured out how to transfer pictures from the computer to a CD. And I did it just yesterday. Quite an accomplishment, huh? I am glad I did it though no matter how late. Maybe when the husband has time he will try to fix the desktop so I can recover the pictures. If not, then at least I have a few saved now.

    24 Oct 2008 /  snow, winter

I am not fond of winter. And that is an understatement, lol. I hate the cold. I complain about the headaches and the bone chilling weather. But I have one thing I love about the winter-snow. I love to look at everything when it is covered with white. It makes things look beautiful and picturesque, like in a postcard. There is one thing I haven’t tried and that is to play in the snow. I had the chance my first few months here in the US but I didn’t take it. I was overwhelmed with the cold and I had problems coping with the 360 degree change in the weather. I look forward to the little man growing up so we can bring him up to where his grandmother lives since it snows there during winter. Unluckily, we don’t have snow here in the south. Perhaps when I get brave enough to be out in the element I will take the chance to play in the snow. There are different games I know so far that doesn’t require elaborate snowmobiles and snowmobile exhaust which should be good for us. I want the little guy to be able to enjoy winter and not be like mama who finds every reason in the book to whine about the cold weather.

    23 Oct 2008 /  toddler, winter clothes

The little man got a lot of jeans and coats and jackets from his aunt when we visited them last weekend. One of the husband’s sister has two boys and she had plenty of clothes they already outgrown. I am happy since the jeans are just the right fit. I have been looking everywhere for jeans that will fit the little man around the waistline but didn’t find any. Most of the jeans I found for his size are about two inches wider in the waist so I only bought one. Which is actually a good thing since I saved money. Sometimes it is better to wait because somehow things just work out fine in the end. Now I don’t have to worry about his winter clothes at all. We have enough to last until Spring.

Since we are going on a trip to visit the husband’s relatives, we have to get things ready. Or I have to. The husband went to work today and so I am left with the packing of our clothes and some basic necessities. He probably will be home earlier than usual though. I already made a list last night so I won’t forget the important things we have to bring. I have to make sure the little man have all the things he needs like formula, his favorite blankies, food, jackets since I learned it is already colder up in Indiana, and perhaps a few toys. I don’t know if we will pack his stroller since there are kids where we are going and I am sure they will let us borrow one of their strollers for the little man to use. The strollers we have are not lightweight so getting one in and out of the car is a lot of trouble for the husband. This is a vacation and we want to enjoy the trip as much as we can. Anyway, I have to start packing some clothes and going over my list again so as not to forget something important.

16 Oct 2008 /  road trip, visiting relatives

We are going on a trip to visit family and friends and so I am making a list of the things I need to bring. I promised a friend I will bring her some fish which I hope with the help of ice and the cooler, will stay fresh when we get to our destination. And I have to harvest a few sweet potato tops and lemon grass for her as well. I have plenty in the garden. I am excited to see familiar faces again. The last time we visited the husband’s relatives was more than a year ago. His sister called me this morning and we talked for a pretty good while. She updated me with the goings on in Indiana. The only thing I am worried about is she said it is already cold there. Well, I guess I better not forget to bring plenty of jackets just so I will not whine about it. I am already excited.

    15 Oct 2008 /  kids, meditation CD and mp3

If you have a kid who doesn’t sleep well at night or you think is easy to give up on challenges, you have to get these CDs &mp3s that help kids overcome challenges, exercise their imaginations, and get some sleep.  Meditation CD’s and mp3′s are good tools to help kids reach their potential and draw out their creativity and confidence. A kid who is confident of his abilities is prone to be more productive and does not limit his imaginations. Raise a creative and confident child. Get him this wonderful gift. It is not too early to start. Perhaps he will be a good sleeper with the help of the CD too.
