    30 Sep 2008 /  mood, rant

I am in a bad mood right now for a lot of reasons which I don’t really want to share. Every little thing makes me irritable. I want to scream in frustration but I know it will not do any good. I want to yell obscenities but I don’t want to corrupt the little man. There are things that I just don’t have control over no matter how I want to. I hate it! But I can’t do anything but rant for now. Crazy world this is.

I am a self-confessed Daddy’s girl. Growing up, I was closer to Papsy while my younger brother followed Mamsy around. I was his tail, his mini-me. He was a teacher and I went to school early as a visitor (was too young to be admitted) and wrecked havoc on teachers and students alike. He made his own version of a bicycle seat so I can ride in his bike with him when he had to go to town. He even gave me toys like a small dustpan specifically made for my size, a small mallet, and a lot of things besides so I would work alongside him and not bother him while he was busy with either his carpentry or automotive work. Instead of playing with dolls, I played with industrial clamps, wrenches, screwdrivers, and whatever he was using at the moment. That didn’t mean I didn’t get punished when I did something wrong though. He was a disciplinarian and I am actually grateful now that he was though at the time I detested the moments he had to be firm with us. Thinking about it makes me smile and think about the carefree days of a child safe in the company of her own parent. If we have a girl, I will want her to be close to her father as well. I don’t have to urge the little man to be close to his father because he already is.

Since we didn’t have anything important lined up for today, the husband and the little man and I drove around to look for yard sales. We did it after breakfast so there were no complaints :D

Sadly, we didn’t find anything good so we didn’t buy any. We went to the store instead and bought some shirts I can wear at home and a few pairs of sandals for Mamsy. The husband bought Levi’s jeans for Papsy and also bought some shirts. We will get us a box and send all these and more to Leyte hopefully before Christmas. I thought about buying Mamsy a pair of earrings too and a new pair of shoes for Papsy. I might also get the kids something so they will have a present each for the holidays.

There will be more store visits and bargain hunting (which should be fun) before our box will be full. We have to set a timeline as well so the box will not get messed up in holiday traffic. I hope we will have more extra money to buy goodies to make a few people happy.

Moving nowadays is not that tedious anymore. This is made easy by ever reliable moving companies where most go out of their ways to help prospective movers deal with the transition smoothly instead of thinking it a burdensome job. Imagine, if you move now all you have to do is get the services of Relocation.com and they will provide you with the resources you need such as information on real estate, moving, apartment hunting, insurance, among others. A detailed guide will be a big help for you to make sure everything is in order.

Even moving to another country is not that hard anymore with the help of Internationalmovers.com. They will provide shipping quotes so you can plan ahead of time. This may be a good place to go when we do our big move to Leyte in a few years since the husband wants to bring his jeep with us. He claims we need a four wheeler in Leyte when it floods, lol. I told him we usually walk across the raging water instead of riding since it is not safe but he is adamant we bring the jeep with us. We have been looking for a possible mover but haven’t really found a good one. We will check this site more and see what we will come up with.

I am going crazy! I was hungry but I didn’t know what to eat. And since I didn’t know what to eat I sampled biscuits, cookies, rice with vegetables, leftover pizza, and some fruits. Now I am so full I can hardly breath. Tell me that is not crazy. I need to do something so I will not end up the pot-bellied pig the husband is starting to call me.

Where is my will and determination to slim down? Why didn’t it work? I thought the mind is stronger than the body? I might be in need of some professional help here. This gorging on food is just ridiculous! But then why can’t I seem to stop? What am I going to do? Help!

If only I have the determination and the drive to really stop eating too much. Nothing is helping and I don’t like it one bit.

26 Sep 2008 /  Fall, season, warm clothes

It is official, Fall is here. In as much as I want summer to stay there is really nothing I can do. The breeze is starting to get chilly even in the south. It is time to put summer clothes away and bring out Fall and winter clothes. Why bring winter clothes out? Because every time the temperature gets below 75 degrees I get cold so I need more ammunition to stop whining. Time to wear bulky clothes again. Shame I can’t wear my shorts nor will I be able to wear my swimsuits anymore. Just when the husband bought me a nice pair that I only wore twice. Anyways, it will be a big job since I have to dig for my thermals and socks but the husband said I will eventually find what I am looking for. We will go shop for the little man’s clothes tomorrow because none of his jackets and jeans fit him anymore. Plus he needs more socks. It will be a busy weekend for this woman here.

24 Sep 2008 /  first time mother, parenting

When my stepdaughter brought her first baby home, everything was squeaky clean. And I mean everything. Just like most first time mothers, she wanted her place to be as comfortable and as clean for her baby boy. She wanted everything perfect for her baby that she had all kinds of air purifier to keep the air her baby breathed clean.

Her father said she was silly. He said that kids need some kind of immunity to the environment so they won’t get sick all the time. They have to be exposed (at a certain level) to build their immune system. They argued over how to raise a kid which made my husband said he raised two his way and they did well. As for our little man we sometimes argue on what to do but I must admit most of the time he is right :)

With her second child though I think she is not as over the top as before. She is learning and I think she now has a broader grasp on parenting. It is true that the way to learn how to be a good parent is through experience. People can tell you a lot of things but a mother should just follow her instincts.

  • 23 Sep 2008 /  computer, computer worm, desktop

It finally happened. Our old, reliable desktop crashed on us last Friday. No more hopping from one computer to the other. No wide screen monitor to watch my favorite shows online. I am sad. The husband is too. That desktop had a sentimental value to us, it made it possible for me and him to know each other years ago. It is one of the reasons I am here.

It started out as an email (or we think it did). And then the worm got into our files. Our virus protection wasn’t able to fix it because it mutated so quick, so fast. Though it tried to fix it but nothing happened. The husband tried and his son even helped but the inevitable happened. We lost our old desktop.

He said we will buy us a new one. No, build us a new one. Better than what we had for sure. Now, we are using our laptops and hoping what happened to our desktop will not happen to this little buddies. But who knows really? Sad.
