Island Girl

It has been a long time since I made an update on this blog. I have been busy taking care of my boy and whatever little time I get I spend updating my other blogs. As you may have noticed, I have quite a few so updating them all takes time not to mention the problem of running out of topics sometimes. I will try to update all though. I have come to get attached with my babies that giving this or any other blog up is unthinkable. So please bear with.

My boy, who demands most of my time is fast growing up. He is very mobile, very active, very inquisitive. We bought plastic doorknobs supposedly designed to stop toddlers from opening doors but we found out it wasn’t effective. He figured out in a matter of minutes what to do to open the doors even with the plastics on. Good thing now he seems to be interested only in the closet door and the weighing scale. I hope he totally forgets about the front door. Yes, he knows how to open it too. So you see why I don’t have the time to post updates anymore. I have to keep an eye on him else he will be on top of the dining table stomping his feet or on the couch trying to reach the blinds. Maybe bubby will grow out of it in weeks. But then I am sure he will be pursuing something else. Mama will just have to stay in the background to keep him on track.

I have been teaching bubby this song and he loves it, the clapping part that is. He would clap his hands nonstop and laugh. He is silly like mama. I also keep on teaching him about body parts and he gets interactive when we do that. He points his finger on my nose, mouth and eyes. He still can’t talk clearly but knowing he retained the things I taught him is good enough for now. He also spends time playing with me now which was a no a few months ago. And I love it. I get to spend quality time with my boy with him appreciating it. Isn’t it just wonderful?

Bubby is fixated in getting hold of the phone that just a few minutes ago he opened one of the drawers on the table where the phone is at and stepped on it just to reach the phone. He did and he fell over his excitement with it. I don’t know what am I going to do with my boy. When he sets his mind into something he would do it at whatever cost which is not good for my blood pressure. He did open closet doors earlier which is a bad thing since the closet doors don’t have locks. I may have to tell hubby to get us a couple of doorknobs with locks. And a few of those plastic pieces you put in the doorknobs so he can’t open the front and back doors. Whew! He is learning fast. I guess having another baby will just have to wait until bubby’s inquisitiveness wears off. In ten years maybe?

My boy will be 18 months old tomorrow. How time flies. I remember when he was 4 months old he hated lying on his back. It always elicited a loud cry with matching legs kicking and hands flailing. When he learned to roll over he was so happy for a while to be able to see things at eye level even if it was just mama’s face or his toys most of the time. Then he got tired of it. He wanted to crawl which he eventually did after a few serious tries. He learned to walk early too. Hubby said he hasn’t seen any kid like his boy. Bubby is a little too independent unlike other boys his age. He sleeps in his bed and  learned to walk by himself (thru holding on to things instead of his parent’s hands). Sometimes hubby wanted to make bubby sleep with us but he wouldn’t do it. It was okay to play for a while but when he was ready to sleep I had to put him in his bed or else he would start getting angry. He now eats by himself, under my supervision of course. He also eats table food now too. It took him a while to do it because it took a while for this teethies to come out. Now he has a number and there’re more coming out which sometimes causes him to get whiny when his gums hurt. I am looking forward to him talking in clear words and learning more things. I sure hope he will be a good boy and will not give us headaches.

I have been debating whether to buy a domain for this baby. If I’d known I can have my own domain when I started blogging I could’ve had went ahead and claimed this as my own. Sadly, I was naive. I didn’t know until months later and just when this was given a page rank. Now I am thinking of just going ahead and get this baby its own domain and not worry about anything else. But this has a page rank. In a time where most blogs are stripped of pr, this blog still has some value I guess. I hate to see the rank go but I have other valid reasons for the new domain. I will wait a few more days and see what happens. All I know is that I will surely buy a domain for this baby when the right time comes. With my experience buying a domain here I  know it will be fast and quick.

I was busy this morning between fixing lunch for hubby and talking to my brother who is in China on yahoo messenger so when bubby woke up I asked hubby to put him on the playpen for a while because I don’t want him messing with the computer. Bubby was good while in the playpen and I even took him out for a while so his Uncle J can see him on cam. I had to put him back though because he started to mess with the laptop and I don’t really want him to break the internet connection. For those of you who don’t know, bubby knows how to turn off the computer. I can’t have him do that while Uncle J was spending precious time trying to talk and see us at the same time.

I was still in the computer when bubby walked behind me. I was so scared mainly because I wasn’t expecting anybody and also because when I realized it was him I wonder how he got out. I wanted to know how he did it and if he hurt himself in the process. I didn’t hear any sound of anything falling though. Or him whining which he usually does when he is hurt. I put him back on the playpen so I will see how he did it but he wouldn’t do it. I called dada right away and told him about what his son did and he just laughed and claimed it is normal. He told me to never trust bubby on the playpen again though because he is liable to do it again. I hope he wouldn’t try to do that in his crib. My baby really is growing up and he is so active and innovative that I am afraid he is going to hurt himself trying to do things he shouldn’t be doing yet.  

This is what bubby had for lunch and he loved it. Proof? He ate everything I put on his tray. Now that was something. My boy is not a very picky eater. His problem is when he loves a certain kind of food that is what he will eat and would refuse to eat variations of that food. Well, that seems to be a thing of the past. For the last couple of days bubby would eat whatever I give him as long as I give him time to look at it and then decide whether he likes it or not. The more I force him to eat something for variety the more he won’t eat it. So I am learning my lesson. Let him decide. As long as he eats healthy food it is fine with me. He had a blast eating the food for lunch. Of course he ended up having the sauce all over his shirt and face but I don’t care. I can always clean up. I gave him a bath afterwards and then put him to bed for his nap. The last time I checked he was still asleep. Good thing so mama can do her online thingy for a while before taking a much needed shower.

I hope bubby will always be like that. Eat whatever I serve him so he will always be healthy. And hopefully smart. And too so we don’t have to spend lots on toddler food. At least I can now give him table food and of course milk. I am so glad my boy is growing up.
